A sales manager at a car dealership in Astana convinced the owners of two cars to transfer them to third parties under the pretext of a quick sale. After the deal, he kept the money from the sale of the cars. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Astana prosecutor's office, the victims handed over a Changan CS55 Plus and a Toyota Camry to the dealership for subsequent sale. Later, the manager claimed he had already found buyers and persuaded the owners to transfer the cars to a third party, promising that they would receive the proceeds in a few days.
After the transfer, the man used the money at his own discretion. The total damage caused to the car owners amounted to 23 million tenge.
During the trial, the defendant fully admitted his guilt and repented.
"The court found the man guilty of fraud and sentenced him to 3 years and 4 months in prison. Civil claims by the victims for compensation for material damage were also satisfied. The verdict has entered into legal force," the supervisory authority noted.
The prosecutor's office reminded that crimes against property can result in punishment of up to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property.
