Fake charges for medical services have been uncovered at a private clinic in Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Financial Monitoring Agency, the head of the private clinic artificially inflated the number of citizens registered with the clinic to obtain funds from the Compulsory Social Health Insurance (CSHI). To implement the scheme, he involved an employee of the National Scientific Center for Healthcare Development. "Using his official access, he illegally approved fake applications," the statement said.
As a result, despite the fact that under current regulations such a method applies only to certain categories of citizens, more than 15,000 people were registered with the clinic based on written applications. The inspection revealed cases of registering residents from other regions, minors without documents from legal representatives, and citizens who had left the country.
Additionally, the clinic director took control of the accounts of medical workers at Damu Med. Thus, he entered false information about the provision of medical services to citizens and received funds from the Fund.
By court verdict, the clinic director was sentenced to 5 years, and the center employee to 3 years in prison.
