A pre-trial investigation into an organized criminal group of 7 people accused of large-scale fraud in Astana has been completed. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

For 4 years, members of the organized crime group deceived citizens under the pretext of helping them obtain housing through subsidized housing programs, as well as arranging loans and financing on favorable terms.

«In order to give their criminal actions a legal appearance, the suspects rented office premises, established commercial organizations, concluded service contracts, and issued guarantee letters,» the prosecutor's office said.

To gain citizens' trust, they convinced them that they had influential connections in state and quasi-state structures.

As a result of the criminal actions, 51 citizens suffered, and the total material damage exceeded 413 million tenge.

The actions of the accused were qualified under two articles. The criminal case has been sent to court for consideration on the merits.
