Police discovered an alleged warehouse of an online drug store in Astana. More than 2,000 sachets of banned substances were found in the apartment of a 33-year-old suspect, the capital's police department reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The man was detained on suspicion of storing and distributing drugs. During a personal search, sachets containing a grey-green plant-based substance with a characteristic odor were found in his waist bag. An examination determined it was marijuana.
"During a search of the suspect's apartment, more than 2,000 sachets with a similar substance, wrapped in electrical tape of various colors, were found. In addition, containers with a liquid that, according to examination results, is hashish oil, were seized. The total weight of the seized drugs exceeded two kilograms," the Astana Police Department said.
According to police, the detainee served as a "warehouse" for an online store that distributed banned substances via messengers. A medical examination also established that the man had used drugs.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact. Police are currently identifying other people who may be involved in the illegal drug trade.
The Astana Police Department recalled that storage, sale and distribution of banned substances entail criminal liability.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that a man in Astana stabbed his wife to death and then took his own life.
