Firefighters in Astana are continuing to extinguish a fire at a solid waste landfill located in the Baikonyr district along Alash highway. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, units of the ministry are working on site together with local executive authorities. About 100 employees and 47 units of special equipment have been involved in extinguishing the fire.
According to the department, the extinguishing is complicated by heavy smoke and the peculiarities of burning solid household waste. Despite this, firefighters continue to take all necessary measures to localize and completely extinguish the fire.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that the situation is under control and work at the scene continues.
