Astana hosted a mono-breed exhibition of Qazaqy Tazy dogs as part of an international dog show. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The event was reported by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. It presented dogs of the national breed and identified its best representatives.
Evaluation at the exhibition
During the exhibition, experts evaluated the tazy for compliance with the standard and breed qualities. The ministry recalled that the Qazaqy Tazy has been linked to the history of the Kazakh people for centuries and belongs to the zheti qazyna — the "seven treasures."
Preservation and development of the breed
According to the ministry, work is underway in Kazakhstan to preserve and breed the tazy, as well as to promote it abroad. For this purpose, a comprehensive plan for 2026-2036 has been approved.
The ministry believes that mono-breed exhibitions help preserve the breed qualities of the Qazaqy Tazy, develop responsible breeding, and introduce the national breed to a wider audience.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on September 3, Kazakhstan for the first time celebrated the Day of the Kazakh Tazy and Tobet. It was also reported how the breed purity of the tazy is confirmed and how dogs are placed on breeding records: as of August 14, 2026, 4,034 tazy were registered in the country — more than twice as many as in January 2023.
