Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed opening a Kazakh-Chinese school of artificial intelligence in Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
He instructed the government to work on this issue. The head of state announced this at the republican August conference of teachers. He believes that training specialists in new technologies should begin at school.
"We cannot consider training specialists of a new formation in isolation from school education. A unified vertical should be built," Tokayev said.
In September, the University of Artificial Intelligence will open in Kazakhstan. However, according to the president, one such educational institution is not enough.
"The government needs to work on the issue of opening a Kazakh-Chinese school of artificial intelligence in Astana, taking into account China's vast experience and achievements in developing new technologies," the president stated.
During his speech, Tokayev also proposed to examine how justified education in schools until the age of 18 is. He cited NIS and private schools as examples.
"The question arises: should we keep 18-year-old teenagers in schools, as is the case in NIS and private schools? How appropriate is this given the accelerated physiological development of modern children?" the head of state said.
The president instructed the relevant ministry to study this issue and, if necessary, propose options. He also reminded that the Constitution provides for a unified standard of school education throughout the country.
Importance of the AI School
Kazakhstan pays special attention to training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence. The opening of a new school could give impetus to the country's technological development. China's experience in this area is vast, so cooperation will be effective.
The president's initiative is regarded as an important step in modernizing the education system. The demand for AI specialists is growing every year, so starting training at the school level is very important.
Changes in Education
Another proposal by Tokayev concerns the duration of schooling. The question of the expediency of education until the age of 18 was raised. This is especially relevant for NIS and private schools. The president noted that modern children develop physiologically faster.
The ministry must study this issue and prepare specific proposals. The Constitution enshrines a unified education standard, so any changes must comply with this standard.
Conclusion
Kazakhstan continues to modernize its education system. The opening of an artificial intelligence school is an important step aimed at the country's technological future. Issues regarding the duration of schooling are also being considered. All changes will be implemented in accordance with the Constitution.
