Residents of the capital are posting footage of the bad weather on social media. The videos show flooded streets, traffic moving through deep puddles, and hailstones. Some citizens report that water flooded their balconies.
Social media also saw jokes about Astana finally cooling down after the heat, but many users once again raised the issue of the storm drainage system.
"The balcony is flooded," "We learned to build factories, bridges, cities and LRT. But we forgot how to build storm drains," "Astana apparently holds a grudge against us. But how fresh and cool it is," users write.
The day before, weather forecasters had warned of unfavorable weather in the capital. For July 23, rain and thunderstorms were forecast in Astana.
