Police in Astana saved a pensioner's 13 million tenge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The victim is 88 years old. The scammers posed as employees of various institutions and tried to convince her to withdraw all her savings.

A bank employee noticed that the 88-year-old client was continuously talking on the phone with unknown people. Suspecting something was wrong, she immediately called the police.

Officers arriving at the scene determined that the pensioner had fallen victim to a scam. Following the scammers' instructions, she had already withdrawn 7 million tenge from her deposit account. The scammers told her to count each banknote and put the money in separate packages. They also said a special employee would come to collect the cash for safekeeping.

Additionally, the scammers tried to persuade the woman to withdraw another 6 million tenge from another bank branch and gather all the cash at home. However, thanks to the prompt actions of the police and bank employees, the pensioner's 13 million tenge remained with her.
