In Astana, images of an armed soldier, combat helicopters and fighter jets on a playground in the Meruert residential complex have been painted over. The Esil district akimat said the design was changed taking into account residents' opinions. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
A Threads user under the nickname didar_toledo drew attention to the drawings. They published a post about the design of the play structures.
"Why should children see war-themed pictures on the playground every day?" the author of the publication asked.
In response to a request from HALYQSTAN, the district akimat explained that the structures were installed in 2021 in accordance with design and estimate documentation.
"The elements were intended to create an interesting and diverse play space for children," the akimat said.
Taking into account residents' opinions, the images have already been painted over, the department added.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that deputies proposed introducing a unified minimum housing quality standard with mandatory provision of children's and sports playgrounds, lighting and landscaping. They also called for checking whether the landscaping of houses previously built at state expense complies with approved projects.
