In Astana, a woman who offered training on trading via a marketplace gained the trust of five citizens and received a total of 15.6 million tenge from them. The court sentenced her to six years of imprisonment for fraud. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
How she defrauded them
According to the Astana city prosecutor's office, the woman offered services teaching how to run a marketplace through social networks. During the training, she gained the citizens' trust and promised to return the invested money together with profit.
She suggested that the victims invest funds to buy goods through the marketplace and then resell them. However, she did not use the received money for the promised purposes and spent it at her own discretion.
Court verdict
As a result, five people suffered material damage totalling 15.6 million tenge. By the court's verdict, the woman was found guilty of fraud. Taking into account her previous conviction, she was sentenced to six years of imprisonment.
The civil claims of the victims were also satisfied.

According to the prosecutor's office, guaranteeing high income, offering business development, or urging investment through social networks may be one of the methods of fraud.
