A crane collapsed at a construction site in Astana, killing the crane operator. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Police officers and an emergency medical team who arrived at the scene confirmed the incident. According to the Astana Emergency Situations Department, the man died from his injuries.
The police have opened a criminal case. The city police department stated that the case was opened on the grounds of "violation of safety rules during construction work, which negligently caused the death of a person." An investigation is currently underway.
