A man damaged two elevator cabins in a residential complex in Astana, reports the Instagram page Astana media center citing eyewitnesses. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the page, the incident occurred on June 21, 2026, at 21/9 Tauelsizdik Avenue. Surveillance camera footage spread on social media.
The footage shows a man, presumably intoxicated, punching the doors and interior panels of the elevator. According to eyewitnesses, two elevator cabins were damaged.
"The circumstances of the incident are being clarified; residents demand to identify the offender and hold him accountable for damaging common property," the video description says.
The Astana Police Department confirmed that an investigation has been launched. Currently, operational services are identifying the man.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a drunk foreigner caused a disturbance at Almaty airport and broke a glass display case.
