During the summer period, city services and ecologists are carrying out comprehensive work to clean the Yesil River and its banks. This includes cleaning up algae and debris, as well as using modern biological treatment methods. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to specialists, this year the growth of algae in certain sections of the Yesil River has exceeded long-term averages. The main reasons are abnormally high air temperatures and lower water levels. In addition, biogenic substances such as nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, as well as organic pollutants, add extra pressure.

According to experts, the possibility of unauthorized discharge of wastewater into the Yesil River and its tributaries Sarybulak and Akbulak cannot be completely ruled out. All these factors contribute to the intensive growth of algae.

Daily sanitary cleaning is carried out in the river's water area. Equipment for cutting reeds, special pontoons and floating devices for collecting aquatic plants are used to clean areas with large accumulations of algae.

In areas with slow water exchange and stagnant zones, it is planned to use a suspension of green microalgae – chlorella. This method is considered an environmentally safe alternative to the use of chemicals. Chlorella actively absorbs nitrogen and phosphorus compounds – nutrients that promote the growth of blue-green algae. As a result, it inhibits their growth and helps restore the natural biological balance in the water body.
