A large-scale festive program has been prepared for the Capital City Day in Astana. From July 2 to 12, residents and guests of the city can expect more than 200 events — concerts, festivals, sports competitions, theater performances, exhibitions, and family celebrations. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The program for the 2026 Capital City Day was published on the website of the city akimat.

Festive events start on July 2. On this day, the winners of the republican poetry contest "Bairagy biik baitagym" will be awarded at the Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev State Academic Philharmonic, and the Taza Fest Astana ecological festival with eco-project exhibitions, interactive areas, and a concert program will take place in the Park of Peace and Accord.

In the evening, the Exemplary Orchestra of the National Guard of Kazakhstan will perform along the Yesil River — the concert will take place directly on a motor ship.

On July 3, youth actions, environmental projects, and family events will be held in the city. A photo exhibition of young authors "Astana – shabyt mekeni" will open at the Palace of Schoolchildren named after Makhambet Utemisuly, followed by an open-air "El zhuregi – Astana!" with concerts, dance battles, and performances.

On the same day, the winners of the young families contest "My Astana — my family" will be awarded at the National Museum, and the children's festival "Kishkentai kurylysshylar – ulken Astana" will take place in the Park of Peace and Accord.

One of the main cultural events will be the premiere of the plastic ballet performance "ALEM" — "Astana, I love you," which will be shown on July 3 and 4 at the Philharmonic.

From July 4 to 6, festive performances will also take place at the capital's circus.

Fans of active recreation will enjoy a rich sports program. On July 5, a mass run SARYARQA RUN for all comers over 16 will take place on the embankment near the Yryskeldy Kazhy Mosque.

On July 6, competitions in wrestling, judo, and Kazakh kuresi "Zhas Kyran" will be held in the Triathlon Park, the "Astana sakasy" asyk atu tournament will take place in the Lovers' Park, and the sports program will conclude with the "Tolagai" strongman tournament on the city square in front of the akimat.

On the same day, a big celebration for the National Dombra Day with a multimedia show, master classes, and an open-air film screening will be held on the Amphitheater stage.

On July 6, festive concerts will take place in residential areas of the capital, and in the evening, two major city venues — near the "Kazakh eli" monument and near the Astana Arena stadium — will host open-air performances by famous Kazakh artists.

On July 5 and 6, the streets of Astana will turn into a theater stage. Street theater artists will perform interactive shows along the route from the Amphitheater to the City Square and in the "Zhetisu" park.

On July 7, the youth festival "Zhaidarman" will take place at the Palace of Peace and Accord, and on July 8, the literary platform "Kalamger ustakhanasy" will continue its work at the National Academic Library.

The festive program will conclude with the large gastronomic festival "BaiQymyz – baptalgan kymyz," which will take place on July 11 and 12 at the Kazanat Hippodrome. About 60 kumis producers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Yakutia will participate.

In addition to the cultural program, more than 25 landscaped courtyards and public spaces are planned to be opened in all districts of Astana for the Capital City Day.

Also, new production enterprises will start operating in the capital's Industrial Park, which will create additional jobs and attract investments into the city's economy.

Recall that in 2026, Capital City Day falls on Monday, July 6. With a five-day work week, Kazakhstanis will rest for three consecutive days – July 4, 5, and 6. For those who work six days a week, the days off will be July 5 and 6.
