A woman in Astana who promised to help obtain apartments through a state housing program has defrauded more than 50 people. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In Astana, the illegal activities of a suspect who promised to help obtain apartments through a state housing program have been uncovered. According to investigation data, a 36-year-old resident of the capital exploited citizens' need for housing and presented herself as a trustworthy person.

She claimed she would help obtain apartments under state housing programs, gained the victims' trust, and appropriated their substantial funds. The suspect alleged she could expedite the housing queue, process necessary documents, and facilitate obtaining housing through the state program. Using this method, she took 1 million tenge from one victim and spent the money on personal needs.

Currently, it has been established that the woman may be involved in more than 50 similar fraud cases. Pre-trial investigative actions are being conducted against the suspect, who turned citizens' hopes for housing into a source of profit.
