A car dealership director who defrauded buyers has been convicted in Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the city prosecutor's office, over the course of a year he concluded booking contracts with clients for the purchase and delivery of cars from China.

"He spent the money received from buyers on personal purposes. To create the appearance of fulfilling his obligations to deliver the cars, he provided the victims with forged documents confirming that bank transfers had been made," the prosecutor's office said.

Six people suffered from the defendant's actions, with material damage exceeding 128 million tenge caused to them.

By court verdict, the car dealership director was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months of imprisonment.
