A call center to combat fraudsters who deceive people over the phone has started its work in Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Anti Call center was opened by the city prosecutor's office together with Kazakhtelecom JSC. Specialists of the center identify and block suspicious calls coming both from Kazakhstan and from abroad.
Operators of the Anti Call center engage cyber fraudsters in conversations, wasting their time and preventing them from contacting potential victims, said prosecutor Nurislam Baltabekov.
The center constantly analyzes call traffic. If many calls are made from one place or calls last too long, it is regarded as a sign of fraudulent activity.
In such cases, the operator starts a conversation with the fraudster. The more time he loses, the safer citizens are. Long conversations cost the fraudster money, while cyber police try to warn citizens who are being called that their data has fallen into the hands of criminals, specialists noted.
With the help of this center, it was possible to prevent the registration of a large loan in the name of one citizen who was standing in front of the bank.
