In Astana, a portrait of Akhmet Baitursynov was made from 5,000 nails and threads. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Sputnik Kazakhstan, citing the official website of the capital's akimat, teachers of school-lyceum No. 48 used String art technology, employing about 5,000 nails and 600 meters of thread to create a unique portrait-installation measuring 3×2 meters.
Young teachers dedicated the work to the 154th anniversary of Akhmet Baitursynov, expressing his image through modern art. The idea of the unusual piece came from the school's young teachers. They proposed a distinctive way to promote the legacy of the national teacher in the educational institution named after him.
It took 14 days to complete the project. In the first stage, teachers used a projector to project Akhmet Baitursynov's image onto a specially prepared board and outlined the main contours of the portrait. Then, about five thousand nails were hammered into the board. After that, by connecting threads wound around each nail, they formed the portrait's image.
Each thread was carefully calculated for its place and direction, resulting in an impressive installation that looks like a whole portrait from a distance. The project's uniqueness lies in the fact that it became not just an artistic creation but also part of the school's spiritual and cultural space.
The young teachers donated the finished work to the school museum. Now the unique portrait-installation will serve as a visual object introducing students and guests of the school to the personality of Akhmet Baitursynov through the language of modern art.
