An investigation into the illegal issuance of driver's licenses to 74 people in 2025 has been completed in Astana, the city prosecutor's office reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The investigation was conducted by the National Security Committee (KNB) department under the coordination of the city prosecutor's office. According to the investigation, employees of the special service center and intermediaries were involved in the scheme. The investigation believes that members of the alleged organized criminal group distributed roles: intermediaries near the building prompted examinees with answers to theoretical questions, while center employees entered deliberately false information into the database about passing the practical exam.
The actions of the suspects were qualified under Article 262 of the Criminal Code — creating and leading an organized group, criminal organization, as well as participation in them, and under Article 206 — unlawful destruction or modification of information.
Six suspects were taken into custody, three are under a written undertaking not to leave, and another is under house arrest.
The validity of all 74 illegally issued driver's licenses has been terminated. The criminal case has been sent to court for consideration on the merits.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that 56 fraud cases related to promises to help obtain driver's licenses were registered in Aktobe region since the beginning of 2026. In one case, according to police, a woman received 300,000 tenge from an acquaintance for processing a license without exams, but did not intend to fulfill the promise.
