Residents of house No. 1 on Akbugy Street in Astana have complained about officials who made their residential building literally "younger" on paper. Astana residents spent years asking for the three-story building to be declared unsafe, but instead of demolition they received a reduction in the wear indicator from 45% to 35%. The capital's housing inspectorate responded to the citizens' complaints. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The Astana akimat reported that the two-story building constructed in 1961 with 66 apartments underwent a new technical inspection in summer 2026, conducted by the accredited company YERZU LLP on the initiative of the district akimat.

"The total physical wear of the facility is 55%, which corresponds to the long service life of the building and the need for scheduled restoration measures," the department explained.

YERZU LLP specialists identified significant wear of the roof covering, the unsatisfactory condition of facade structures and external walls, damage to window units and local defects in the foundation. The building primarily requires major roof repairs with complete replacement of the roofing, repair of ventilation shafts and restoration of drainage.

The authorities propose that residents repair the common property of the condominium through special financing programs. To receive consultations and launch the modernization process, the akimat suggests residents contact Orken Kala LLP.

Earlier, due to a heating system rupture in this house, the entrance and apartments from the third to the first floor were completely flooded with boiling water. According to residents, the accident left the entrance energized, and touching the doors could result in an electric shock. At the same time, according to officials' documents, the wear of the house is decreasing over time.
