At the National Scientific Center of Cardiac Surgery in Astana, a 60-year-old patient received a heart transplant from a deceased donor. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The operation was performed by a team of doctors led by Professor Yuri Pya. The donor was 45 years old and died from a cerebrovascular accident. The heart transplant lasted 5 hours. Currently, the patient is in the intensive care unit, his condition is stable.

This is the third heart transplant operation in Kazakhstan in 2026. The previous two operations were also successful. According to the Ministry of Health, the problem of donor organ shortage remains relevant in the country.
