On July 9, unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) are forecast in two cities of Kazakhstan — Astana and Kostanay. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to weather forecasters, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in both cities during the night hours.
Experts explained that UMC occur when calm, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion combine. Under such conditions, harmful impurities accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to deterioration of air quality.
The level of pollution is also affected by wind speed, humidity, air temperature, and the presence of precipitation.
During UMC, residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near highways and other emission sources.
Children, the elderly, pregnant women, as well as people with respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and allergies are advised to limit walks and carry necessary medications. Intense outdoor sports should be moved indoors.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazakhstan will be hit by extreme heat: a storm warning was issued in 17 regions.
