A criminal case involving fraud committed under the pretext of taking children to an international football tournament has been considered in Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the convicted person convinced parents that a trip for young footballers to Spain would be organized under an "all-inclusive" tariff.
"Under various pretexts — payment for participation in the tournament, air tickets, visa services, accompanying children and purchasing sports clothing — he received money from the victims. However, in reality he failed to fulfill his obligations and used the received funds at his own discretion," the statement said.
The total amount of material damage caused to 9 victims exceeded 24 million tenge.
By court verdict, the perpetrator was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months of imprisonment. The damage caused was recovered from the convicted person.
