In Astana, young teachers have created an unusual portrait of the prominent public figure Akhmet Baitursynov. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
For the work, they needed about 5,000 nails and 600 meters of thread. According to the city akimat, the 3×2 meter installation was made using the String art technique for the 154th anniversary of the educator.
The project was conceived by teachers of School-Lyceum No. 48 named after Akhmet Baitursynov. It took 14 days to create.
"First, using a projector, the image of Baitursynov was transferred onto a wooden panel and contours were marked. Then about 5,000 nails were hammered into the base, after which the teachers began to weave threads between them, gradually forming the portrait," said the project authors.
The teachers note that the work has become not just an artistic installation, but part of the school's cultural space. The finished portrait was donated by the teachers to the school museum.
Now the artwork will introduce students and guests of the school to the personality and legacy of Akhmet Baitursynov through modern art.
