Unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) are expected in six cities of Kazakhstan on September 3. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the forecast of RSE "Kazhydromet", UMC are predicted in Uralsk, Aktobe, Astana, Almaty, Atyrau, and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
What is UMC?
Unfavorable meteorological conditions are a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm, weak wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of atmospheric air.
When UMC occur, the quality of atmospheric air in populated areas may deteriorate, which affects human health.
Factors determining pollution levels
One of the most important factors determining the formation of pollution levels is the forecast of the synoptic situation (wind, precipitation, humidity, air temperature).
Earlier, Kursiv reported that storm warnings were issued for September 3 in several regions of Kazakhstan. Forecasters predict frosts down to -5°C, strong winds, thunderstorms, hail, fog, and dust storms.

In cities where air quality deterioration is expected, residents are advised to close windows and wear masks when going outside. People with chronic diseases should consult a doctor.
Environmentalists advise reducing car use and using public transport.
