A storm warning has been issued for Astana and 17 regions of Kazakhstan for October 18. Forecasters predict frosts down to −7 degrees, rain and snow, ice, fog and dust storms, according to Kazhydromet. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Zhetisu Region
In the Zhetisu region, temperatures at night will drop to −2…−7 degrees. In Taldykorgan, −5…−7 degrees are forecast.
Almaty Region
In the Almaty region, frosts down to −1…−6 degrees are expected at night in the north and west, and down to −1…−3 degrees in Konaev. During the day in the east of the region, gusts of southwest wind shifting to northeast will reach 15 m/s.
Zhambyl Region
In the Zhambyl region, frosts down to −2 degrees are forecast at night in the east. Fog is expected in mountainous areas at night and in the morning. In the southwest, northeast and mountains, the northeast wind will intensify to 15–20 m/s.
Kyzylorda Region
In the Kyzylorda region, frosts down to −1 degree are expected at night in the north on the soil surface.
Turkestan Region
In the Turkestan region, frosts down to −1 degree are forecast at night in the north, and fog in the mountains. In the west, mountainous areas and Turkestan, gusts of northeast wind will reach 15–20 m/s.
