On Capital Day, July 6, maternity hospitals across the republic operated on an enhanced round-the-clock schedule. As a result, 448 little Kazakhstani citizens were born in 24 hours. According to the ministry, slightly more girls were born than boys this time.
"On July 6, 448 children were born in medical organizations of the republic. Of these, 223 boys and 225 girls. On this festive day, two sets of twins were also born in the country, both in Astana," the statement said.
The Turkestan region made the largest contribution to the holiday statistics, with 67 babies born there. Next came Almaty, where 44 children were born, and 40 newborns each were registered in Shymkent and the Almaty region.
"We congratulate parents on the birth of their babies on such a significant day and wish the newborns and their mothers good health, well-being, and a happy future," the ministry's congratulatory message read.
Earlier, it became known that 24 babies were born in the capital itself on the holiday. According to the city administration, 15 boys and 9 girls were born in Astana's maternity hospitals. It was noted that all mothers and their babies are feeling well.
Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Kazakhstani citizens on Capital Day and shared his vision of what Astana should become in the coming years.
In addition, Kursiv previously reported that about 545,000 children under 18 live in the capital, including 280,000 boys and 265,000 girls. It was also reported that 26 people across Kazakhstan bear the name Astana.
