Today after a heavy rain in Astana, the city's streets were flooded. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
After the afternoon rain, videos of cars submerged in water spread online. For instance, at the intersection of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly Avenue and Askar Tokpanov Street, the water level reached the hood of a passenger car. This is clearly visible from one car standing at the turn.
At the intersection of Baitursynuly and Amanzholov streets, sidewalks were also under water. People climbed onto the seats at the bus stop and waited for the bus. Passengers filmed water entering the bus and shared the videos online.
At one of the Tarlan Astana stations, water is leaking from the roof.
According to Kazhydromet, in the coming days Astana will see heat of +25...+29 degrees Celsius and more rain.
It is worth noting that after heavy rains, the streets of Astana often flood. In 2018, the then mayor Aset Isekeshev reported to the prime minister about plans to address this issue. And in 2023, the director of "Elorda eco system" Timur Shodanov was dismissed.
