The Kazakh government has allocated over 16.2 billion tenge for the development of Astana's engineering and energy infrastructure. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Of this amount, 8.7 billion tenge will be directed to the construction and modernization of drainage infrastructure. Specifically, the sewer collector from the existing treatment facilities in the Yesil district to Lake Karabidayik in the Akmola region will be modernized. Additionally, a collector will be built to discharge treated wastewater from Uly Dala, Hussein bin Talal, Chingiz Aitmatov streets and Turan Avenue to the Yesil River.
The implementation of these works will allow the drainage of surface and drainage waters from an area of 4,500 hectares, as well as ensure the stable operation of facilities that treat up to 70,000 cubic meters of water per day.
7.5 billion tenge will be allocated for the development of the capital's energy infrastructure. These funds will be used to build a closed substation "Karlygash" with a capacity of 110/20 kV, connected to existing power grids, and to modernize turbine unit No. 1 at CHP-2 of Astana-Energy JSC.
After the new energy facility is commissioned, the load on the Yesil and Baiterek substations will decrease, and about 80,000 residents near the Nurly Zhol station and the Telman residential area will be provided with stable electricity. The additional capacity will allow the commissioning of new schools, clinics, and other social facilities.
After the modernization of the turbine at CHP-2, its electrical capacity will increase by 30 MW — from 80 MW to 110 MW. This will enhance the reliability of energy supply amid the annual growth of electricity consumption in the capital.
