Kazakhstan's vice-champion Astana secured a comeback victory over Aktobe 3:2 at home and moved up to third place, a European competition spot, in the Kazakhstan Premier League. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

In today's match at Astana Arena, both teams, which have won 12 Kazakhstan championship titles combined, took turns leading. Dmitry Shomko opened the scoring, but the visitors responded with goals from former Kairat players Georgy Zaria and Artur Shushenachev. Then Ivan Basic, who returned to Astana from the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team that reached the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, equalized. The winning goal for Grigory Babayan's team, which has started successfully in European competitions, was scored by Stanislav Basmanov in stoppage time – 3:2.

Next round

Due to the participation of Kazakh clubs in European qualification, the 17th round of the Kazakhstan Premier League was shortened. Almaty team played their match against Kyzylzhar on June 17 (3:0). The match Atyrau – Elimai has been postponed indefinitely.
