Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev announced that construction of a new airport in Astana will begin next year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

At today's government meeting, the minister announced the timeline for the start of construction work. "As previously stated, building the Astana airport is an urgent task. The city administration is carrying out the necessary work, and construction will begin next year," Sauranbayev said.

Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that building a new airport in Astana is an urgent task. Currently, the city administration is considering several land plots for the construction of the new airport.
