A violation of antimonopoly legislation has been identified in the activities of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport JSC. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to an investigation by the agency's department, the airport, holding a monopoly position in its market, collected unregulated fees from aviation fuel suppliers. "At the same time, suppliers did not have the opportunity to refuse the specified requirements or choose an alternative service provider," the official statement said.
It was also found that the amount of the fee was changed in stages from 16,240 tenge per ton to 77,852 tenge, and then to 60,137 tenge. All this led to an increase in the financial burden on market participants and risks of rising aviation fuel costs for end consumers.
Thus, Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport abused its monopoly position under Article 174 of the Entrepreneurial Code.
