An illegal import of 223 iPhone 18 smartphones was intercepted at Astana airport. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The illegal activity was identified by employees of the "Airport – Astana" customs post of the State Revenue Department for the city of Astana.
"Ten cases of illegal import of mobile devices were intercepted. In total, 223 iPhone 18 smartphones and 10 pairs of AirPods wireless earphones were found," the statement said.
During customs control, it was established that passengers carried large quantities of mobile devices through the "green corridor," that is, without submitting a customs declaration.
In particular, in one case a passenger attempted to bring in 50 smartphones at once in their baggage. This significantly exceeds the established limit for an individual to carry goods for personal use without paying customs duties and declaring them.
According to the identified facts, 4 individuals had the status of individual entrepreneurs, and another 4 individuals imported goods without being registered as individual entrepreneurs.
The mobile devices were placed in a temporary storage warehouse.
