Astana International Airport exceeded 1 million passengers in a single month for the first time in July. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to information released by the airport administration, this historic figure was made possible through the systematic development of the airport's route network, the opening of new international destinations, and an increase in flight frequency on existing routes.
New International Destinations
In 2026, the route network of Astana International Airport was expanded with new international destinations. As a result of the opening of flights to Larnaca (Cyprus), Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), Guangzhou (China), Yerevan (Armenia), and Dalaman (Turkey), the number of international destinations increased from 42 to 47.
Additionally, passengers have access to 18 domestic routes across Kazakhstan, the official statement said.
Infrastructure Modernization
Along with the growth in passenger traffic, priority is also being given to the phased modernization of airport infrastructure and improving the quality of passenger services.
It is worth noting that earlier, Air China decided to increase the number of flights from Astana to Beijing.
