A violation of antimonopoly legislation has been detected in the operations of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition, the airport collected unregulated fees from aviation fuel suppliers. The fee amount varied from 16,240 tenge to 77,852 tenge per ton, and was later changed to 60,137 tenge.
The agency noted that these actions increased costs for market participants and created risks of rising aviation fuel prices. The actions were classified as abuse of monopoly position.
The first-instance court recognized the investigation results as lawful.
