The progress of the reconstruction of the old Astana-1 railway station was inspected by Akim of Astana Zhenis Kassymbek and KTZ head Talgat Aldybergenov. Following the inspection, the contractor was ordered to speed up to meet the established deadlines for the facility. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
"Roofing work is being completed at the facility. Exterior and interior finishing of the building, installation of heating, ventilation, water supply, sewerage, power supply and low-current networks are ongoing. Construction of external utility networks is underway, work on the shore platform is being completed, and construction of the concourse crossing continues," the statement said.
To date, 261 workers and 11 units of equipment are involved in the reconstruction. Contracts have been signed for the supply of technical equipment and furniture. However, during the inspection, Kassymbek and Aldybergenov concluded that it is necessary to increase the pace of work to complete the reconstruction on time.
"The contractor has been instructed to increase the number of workers and the amount of equipment involved, as well as to speed up the delivery and installation of elevators, escalators, facade systems and stained glass structures," KTZ reported.
Recall that the total area of the facility is 8,409 square meters. The design and estimate documentation is undergoing state expertise at the State Expertise Republican State Enterprise.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the reconstruction of the "new" part of the Astana-1 station complex should be completed by the end of October 2026. Major repairs have not been carried out here for more than 20 years, which is why the state of the infrastructure caused numerous complaints from residents and guests of the capital.
