Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi will stand trial in France on rape charges. The Versailles Court of Appeal rejected the footballer's appeal to avoid the case being sent to criminal court. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The case relates to a complaint filed in 2023. According to the prosecution, the incident occurred at Hakimi's home in France. The footballer completely denies the allegations.

Hakimi immediately reacted to the court's decision on appeal. He wrote that the situation has impacted his family, personal life, and reputation. The footballer also stated that he feels like an "easy target" because of his fame.

"I have been waiting for this trial from day one. Now I look forward to it. Finally, I will be able to speak," Hakimi wrote on X.

The trial date is not yet known. The final decision on Hakimi's guilt or innocence will be made only after the judicial process.

Hakimi is currently with the Moroccan national team at the 2026 World Cup. He previously played in a match against Brazil, and the Moroccans will play their next game tonight against Scotland.
