In Turkistan region, court hearings concluded for a woman who, while intoxicated, struck and killed three people. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The state prosecutor asked the court to sentence the defendant to 10 years in prison, as reported by 7 channel.

The incident occurred on June 6 in the city of Arys. A school teacher hit people sitting in front of a house and fled the scene.

Two families sitting carelessly in the courtyard were struck by tragedy in an instant: three people died. Two of them were children, one was a pregnant woman. Another person was seriously injured, and two were hospitalized with moderate injuries.

The state prosecutor requested a 10-year prison sentence for the woman who drove while intoxicated.

«"In accordance with Part 2 of Article 58 of the Criminal Code, by absorbing the less severe punishment into the more severe one, I ask to impose on Kasimova the final punishment of 10 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for life. Given that she has a dependent daughter under 14 years old, I ask to postpone the execution of the sentence for 1 year," said prosecutor Akzharkyn Orazbay.»

In that accident, Dana Ussimbek and her one-and-a-half-year-old baby were seriously injured. The 5-year-old girl who died at the scene was the daughter of this victim.

The 30-year-old woman, who had not yet recovered from her injuries, could not hold back tears during the hearings.

«"We have lost the child we were raising, I have become disabled. My health and my child's health will not recover. I go to read the Koran at the grave of my deceased daughter, whom I was going to take to school," she said.»

The defendant, citing her underage disabled daughter, asked the court for a lighter sentence. She expressed remorse and asked for forgiveness.

The verdict in this case will be announced on September 7.
