Drunk woman in JAC hits and kills two children in Arys

A terrible traffic accident occurred in the city of Arys, claiming the lives of three people, including two minor children. Two more were seriously injured. A criminal case has been opened. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to preliminary data from the investigation of the Turkestan region, a drunk woman was behind the wheel of a JAC car. She hit a group of pedestrians and then fled the scene without providing assistance to the victims.

"Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. As a result of operational search activities, the suspect was identified, detained, and placed in a temporary detention facility," police explained.

At the scene, three people died from their injuries, including two minors. Two more victims with injuries of varying severity were urgently taken to the nearest medical facility, where doctors are providing them with necessary care.

"Currently, the investigative team is conducting all necessary measures aimed at a comprehensive, complete, and objective establishment of the circumstances," the press service added.

Amid heated discussions of the incident on social media, the regional police urged citizens not to spread false information, to trust only official sources, and to respect the grief of the victims' families.

On March 21, 2026, at approximately 03:30, at the intersection of Al-Farabi Avenue and Mendykulov Street, a Zeekr car drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Mercedes.

Behind the wheel of the Zeekr was a 32-year-old businessman. After the accident, he was hospitalized with injuries. The suspect was initially under guard at the medical facility, then was transferred to a pre-trial detention center.

At the hearing, the defendant addressed the relatives of the deceased and asked for their forgiveness.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the investigation of the case is under special control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
