Construction of a new passenger terminal and renovation of the runway at Arkalyk Airport are nearing completion. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Kostanay Regional Prosecutor's Office, the project includes the construction of a new passenger terminal, reconstruction of the runway, taxiway, and apron. The total cost of the project is approximately 20 billion tenge.
For financing the construction, 6 billion tenge was allocated from a special state fund created from illegally obtained assets returned to the state. Since the project began, the Arkalyk city prosecutor's office has been conducting constant monitoring of construction and installation works.
The agency stated that the commissioning of the airport will improve transport links in Arkalyk and give impetus to the economic development of the region. It will also improve the quality of transport services provided to residents.
