Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that due to restrictions on the export of Armenian goods to Russia, the work of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) may soon come to an end. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"This is not Armenia's problem, this is the EAEU's problem. Because in fact, the work of the Eurasian Economic Union has stopped and is not functioning," he told journalists.
According to the Prime Minister, if this issue is not resolved soon, it could lead to the collapse of the EAEU.
In early June, Pashinyan stated that Armenia would continue its work in the Eurasian Economic Union. According to him, until Armenia submits an official application for EU membership or approaches the status of a candidate for EU membership, holding any referendum on this issue would be illogical.
Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor announced that from June 12 it would introduce restrictions on the import of products subject to quarantine control from Armenia, as well as on their transit through Russia to EAEU countries.
As explained by the head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergei Dankvert, the restriction on the supply of Armenian agricultural products is not related to politics; it was introduced due to producers' ineffective quality control.
