Prominent film director Ardak Amirkulov has passed away at the age of 70. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Information, Ardak Zhamansaryuly devoted his conscious life to the development of national cinema and made an invaluable contribution to the prosperity of Kazakh cinematography.
The ministry noted that as a talented director, qualified teacher and mentor, he influenced the formation of several generations of filmmakers.
Contribution to national cinema
As reported by the ministry, Amirkulov's films "The Fall of Otrar", "Abai", "Farewell, Gulsary!" and others have taken their place in the golden fund of national cinema.
His works are distinguished by a deep portrayal of the country's history, spiritual values of the people and human destinies, and have received high praise from audiences and the professional community.
Condolences
The ministry expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased: "The bright image of Ardak Zhamansaryuly, his exemplary life and significant work invested in the development of Kazakh culture and cinema will forever remain in the people's memory. May his soul find peace in paradise, may his faith be sound, may his resting place be bright, and may the earth be soft for him!", the statement said.
Biography
Ardak Amirkulov was born on December 10, 1955, in Zhambyl region. He was an Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize and holder of the Order of "Kurmet".
