On the Astana – Shchuchinsk highway, a driver who fell asleep at the wheel was involved in a road accident. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The accident occurred today at 08:43 AM at the entrance to Astana. The driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado fell asleep at the wheel and hit road signs, a protective buffer, and a concrete block in the third and fourth lanes. The car overturned.
"Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident. The driver was alone in the car and refused medical assistance," the official statement said.
As a result of the accident, the third and fourth lanes were closed for about three hours.
"Today's situation ended only with damage to the vehicle and road infrastructure. In another case, the consequences of a few seconds of sleep could have been much more serious. Therefore, if your eyes are closing, do not risk saying 'a little more'. Stop in a safe place and be sure to rest," advise specialists from KazAvtoZhol.
It is worth noting that damaged infrastructure facilities on the toll road are repaired at the expense of the guilty person.
