In the Rauan-2 residential area on the outskirts of Aktobe, more than a thousand homes remain without centralized water supply. The water pipeline is 90% complete, but 796 million tenge is missing to finish the project. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the KTK television channel, residents of the area have been bringing water from the city themselves for more than ten years. One family can use up to 200 liters per day. With the onset of rains, people fear being unable to travel for water due to the condition of the roads.
"We need to wash dishes, do laundry, bathe ourselves, but there is no water. We have been bringing it from the city all this time. Soon the rains will start, the roads will be washed out, and then we won't even be able to drive out for water," said Zada Mizambayeva, a resident of the area.
Laying the water pipeline began last spring. Residents were promised it would be launched by the end of summer, but by mid-October water had still not appeared in the homes.
"The line was laid, connections were made to each house. For example, everything is ready at my place, but there is still no water in the taps," said Serik Mektepov, a resident of the area.
The akimat confirmed that the main and intra-block networks have already been laid, a reservoir has been built, and equipment has been installed. A lack of funding is preventing the completion of the work and the launch of the system.
"This project is financed from the regional budget, the total cost of the project is 2.3 billion tenge. To complete it, we need 796 million tenge from the regional budget," said Aksunkar Kuldunbayev, head of the sector of the construction department of the Aktobe city akimat.
The city akimat has sent a request to allocate the missing amount from the regional budget, but has not yet received a response. The deadlines for completing the work and launching the water pipeline have not been determined.
