In Aktobe, eight families continue to live in an emergency two-story building that specialists have recognized as unfit for restoration. The brick cladding is peeling away from the walls, load-bearing structures are covered in cracks, and the wiring constantly sparks. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The building's condition is deteriorating
The building in question is house No. 2 on Turgenev Street, built 62 years ago from wooden panels. According to residents, the condition of the building worsens after every rain: new cracks appear on the walls, and the brickwork continues to crumble.
"Right now the rain has started, and we are worried again that all this will come off again. It comes off more and more with every rain. The windows are already warping. It would be fine if just one brick fell by itself – but it will bring the whole house down with it. This is very dangerous," said Alena Gumma, a resident of the building.
Results of the inspection
In spring, after numerous appeals from the owners, specialists inspected the building. They found that the brick cladding had peeled off over approximately one-third of the area. Cracks and displacement of individual sections were found in the load-bearing walls, and the house itself had settled.
Experts also found that some of the wooden structures had rotted. The roof is damaged over almost the entire area, so during rains water penetrates into the entrances and apartments. An additional danger is posed by the worn-out electrical wiring, which, according to residents, regularly sparks.
The technical conclusion states that repair and restoration work in the building is impossible. The only option remains the resettlement of residents.
Response from the akimat
The akimat of Aktobe confirmed that the house is officially recognized as emergency. However, no quick resettlement dates are being given to the people yet. In total, there are 41 emergency houses in the city.
"At present, there are 41 emergency houses in the city of Aktobe. Among them is Turgenev, 2. It has also been recognized as emergency at present. Work is underway on the house. We are preparing documents for requisition," said Asima Omarova, head of the sector of the housing inspection department of the Aktobe akimat.
Residents await resolution
Eight families still live in the emergency building. Their daily life is fraught with danger: after every rain, bricks crumble, and the sparking wiring creates a fire hazard. Residents fear the building will collapse.
According to the specialists' conclusion, restoration of the building is impossible. The only option is the resettlement of residents. However, the akimat has not yet named specific dates. In total, there are 41 emergency houses in the city, including house No. 2 on Turgenev Street.
This situation reflects the complexity of the housing problem in Aktobe. Residents are concerned about their safety and are asking to speed up the resettlement.
