A man who survived a fire at a gas station in Aktobe will undergo surgery to transplant his own skin. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to Kazinform, the 54-year-old patient has been undergoing treatment at the Aktobe City Multidisciplinary Hospital No. 1 for about a month. He lost his wife and children in the fire.
According to the regional health department, the man suffered burns covering nearly 50% of his body surface when the car caught fire. His condition is currently assessed as stable.
"The patient's condition is stable, hemodynamic parameters are normal. The patient is receiving necessary treatment in a specialized department. Burn wounds on the face and limbs are gradually healing. In accordance with the treatment plan, autodermoplasty is planned for burn wounds on the chest area," the press service of the department reported.
Autodermoplasty is a surgery to transplant the patient's own skin to cover extensive burn wounds.
Recall that the tragedy occurred on June 19 at one of the gas stations in Aktobe. A parked car caught fire. As a result of the fire, three people died. It later turned out that they were the driver's wife and his two minor children.
After the incident, the owner of the gas station was taken into custody. A criminal case was initiated on charges of violating safety rules at explosive facilities.
