A plant producing glass containers will be built in the city of Aktobe. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The corresponding resolution was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, the government reported. Construction of the enterprise is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with commissioning scheduled for 2029.
Investment and capacity
"The total volume of investments amounts to 60 billion tenge, with a design capacity of 256 million glass containers per year," the statement said.
Currently, the Aktobe region has no domestic production of glass products.
The new plant will make it possible to increase the production of domestic glass containers and expand their supply on the domestic market.
Domestic market and exports
Up to 80% of the enterprise's products are planned to be sold in Kazakhstan, with the remainder to be supplied to the markets of Central Asian countries. The project also envisages a gradual increase in the use of secondary raw materials.
Recycling and jobs
During the project financing stage, it is planned to recycle more than 245 thousand tonnes of glass waste, reusing it in production. Around 300 permanent jobs will be created as part of the project.
Continuous training and professional development are planned for Kazakh specialists.
Impact on the industry
The launch of the enterprise will generate additional demand from the food and processing industry: increasing the supply of domestic glass containers will help shorten delivery times and improve the stability of supplies for enterprises in related sectors.
