A criminal case is being investigated in Aktobe against a 46-year-old man detained on suspicion of defrauding residents. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the investigation, the suspect placed an advertisement stating that he would exchange his three-room apartment for a smaller dwelling with an additional payment. "From citizens who showed interest in this offer, he took the additional payment intended for the exchange. However, he later stopped answering calls and did not fulfill his obligations under the agreement," the statement said.
According to preliminary data, since the end of 2025, the suspect has defrauded 17 residents of Aktobe in this manner. He spent the money on personal needs. Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway on the charge of fraud. During the investigation, it will be determined whether the suspect was involved in other similar crimes.
