In Aktobe, a 38-year-old man was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for beating a 15-year-old schoolboy in the regional central mosque "Nur Gasyr". This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing HALYQSTAN.
The incident occurred in February 2026 during Ramadan. After evening prayers, three teenagers headed for the exit. One of them took the man's shoes, showed them to friends, and said he had worn a similar pair.
The shoe owner saw this and beat the schoolboy. The teenager was diagnosed with multiple bruises and a concussion.
Criminal cases were opened against the man on charges of intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm and hooliganism.
During the trial, the defendant apologized to the victim and another teenager who was also affected during the conflict. He stated that he was the sole breadwinner in the family and asked for a sentence not involving imprisonment.
The court sentenced the man to 1.5 years in a medium-security facility.
Earlier, representatives of the Nur Gasyr mosque stated that the convicted man had no relation to the religious institution. They also said that after the incident, control over order on the complex's territory would be strengthened.
"In order to prevent such incidents in the future, control over compliance with order will be significantly strengthened," the mosque said.
The Nur Gasyr mosque has been mentioned in the news more than once in connection with conflict situations.
Last year, Kursiv wrote that Aktobe resident Emmanuella Nauryzbayeva reported harassment by a man at the entrance to this mosque. According to her, he offered her a "one-time nikah" for intimacy and did not let her pass. The police identified him, drew up an administrative protocol for harassment in a public place, and sent the materials to court.
Later, Nauryzbayeva reported persecution, threats, and accusations of discrediting Islam after publishing a video. She also stated that she was pressured by men associated with the mosque. The police began an investigation into the threats received.
